Australian Monthly Income Fund
On 18 December 2008 AXA announced the introduction of new withdrawal arrangements for its Australian Monthly Income Fund (AMIF). Under these new arrangements AXA will notify unit holders of quarterly Withdrawal Offers. Income distributions from AMIF will continue to be paid monthly.
Australian Property Fund
In August 2008 AXA announced that withdrawal timeframes for AXA’s Wholesale Australian Property Fund (WAPF) would be extended from daily to a period of six months and that they were evaluating a proposal to list WAPF on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). As the Australian Property Fund (APF) invests predominantly in WAPF, withdrawal timeframes for APF were also extended from daily to a period of six months. In October 2008, AXA advised that following unprecedented volatility
in the market that the proposed listing of WAPF would not proceed prior to the end of the year.
Since that time capital and investment markets worldwide have continued to experience
volatility. Australian listed property trusts unit prices have fallen significantly; the S&P/ASX 300 Property Trust Accumulation Index fell by 26.4 per cent from 19 August to 27 November 2008. Listed property trusts generally are trading at large discounts to the stated value of their underlying assets.
Throughout this period AXA has been assessing a range of other potential options such as the sale of some of the properties within WAPF. These options have been assessed taking into account their likely impact on unit holders. The evaluation process has also included obtaining up-to-date independent valuations of the properties in WAPF.
Importantly, income distributions from APF and WAPF have continued during this process and will continue to be paid quarterly.
Given the current environment and difficult investment markets AXA does not believe that APF will be in a position to realise its investments at the optimal value for APF clients in the short term (within the next 12 months). As a consequence the fund will introduce a new withdrawal regime. Going forward AXA will notify clients of any withdrawal offers. Withdrawal requests already received by AXA cannot be processed and WAPF remains closed to new applications.
APF continues to be actively managed in line with its stated objective to provide quarterly income with some capital growth over the medium to long term.
APF continues to invest predominantly in WAPF which will maintain its investments in a diversified portfolio of retail, office and industrial properties (located predominantly in Australia with some exposure to New Zealand), a portfolio of listed property securities and cash.
As AXA’s Australian Property Fund (APF) invests predominantly in WAPF, the circumstances surrounding WAPF affect APF.

* The minimum initial investment is $20,000
* Both funds have a market linked balance
* Both funds have investment risk as they are linked to the performance of your chosen investments.
* No additional deposits can be made
* The pension term ceases when the account balance reaches zero.
* You can choose monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly income payments.
